The final boat dive of 2026 was a great time had by all.

Seven Active Divers braved sporty seas in the morning to set out aboard Scubatyme for two dives on the gorgeous reefs of Boynton Beach.

Dive 1: Tongue of the Reef - the stormy overcast skies made for a somewhat gloomy dive down on the reef, but we held our group together with flashlights. On the ledge we saw several moray eels, a large pufferfish, and glassy sweepers frolicking under the caves. Underneath the 3-4 foot waves, the ocean was still a very warm 86 degrees.

Dive 2: Black Condo - For the second dive, the sun came out, and visibility cleared up. The seas laid down to 1-2 feet by the end of our dive. We were greeted by a large channel-clinging crab, another huge pufferfish, smooth and spotted trunkfishes, and several large green moray eels. Boynton's reefs are characterized by large purple barrel sponges and beautiful orange sponges.

But the very best part of the day was an encounter with a huge male loggerhead turtle who swam right past us, then circled around the top of the reef so we got to spend a long time with him. This was a fabulous way to close out the final boat dive of the season.
