The evening unfolded with a calm and magical night dive beneath the famous Blue Heron Bridge, as divers entered the water just before high tide around 8:30 PM and were greeted by warm 80-degree water, glassy conditions, and exceptional visibility. With virtually no current or surge, the group enjoyed a relaxed hour-long exploration through the shallow reef and bridge structures, reaching a maximum depth of just 20 feet while taking in the incredible nighttime activity of the reef.

Sleeping parrotfish tucked into the rocks, spotted drums drifted through the beams of dive lights, and the area seemed alive with countless lobsters and crabs emerging from every crevice. Divers also spotted beautiful clusters of spotted cup corals glowing beneath the lights.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening came when the group encountered an octopus struggling with a fish hook embedded in one of its arms. Several divers carefully attempted to assist, but the frightened animal retreated before the hook could be removed—a sobering reminder of how human impact can reach even the hidden corners of the reef.

Despite the bittersweet encounter, the dive carried an easygoing and connected atmosphere, with the small group thoroughly enjoying the peaceful conditions and unforgettable marine life sightings throughout the night.
