Majestic Princess

November 2-8,2025

Twenty-two divers and their companions boarded the Majestic Princess on November 2, 2025 for an incredible end of season dive adventure! Timing is everything in life, and we all watched Hurricane Melissa churn in the Caribbean for days, wondering if we would get to go on this trip. Thanks to a cold front that whisked the storm away in time for the seas to calm down, we had terrific diving in all three locations, Costa Maya, Roatan and Cozumel.

That evening we had an orientation meeting aboard the ship where the divers received handouts and answers to any questions they had. After a relaxing day at sea, we arrived in Costa Maya and found our way to Mar Adentro divers. It’s a small shop on Mahahual Beach in what I call “rustic Mexico”, away from the hustle and bustle of the port. Considering we were such a large group, they were ready for us, and about 45 minutes later we were in the boats and ready to dive.

The reefs were nearby, and the seas were calm, so in about ten minutes we were diving along a canyon-like reef. We were split up into groups of 4 with an individual guide for each group, so even though we had 22 divers we never ran into anyone else.
Plenty of coral with little to no bleaching, myriad tropical fish, turtles, and no current. The boats returned to shore to get fresh tanks while we did our surface interval, and then we did our second spectacular dive. Upon our return the shop manager, Arron, was kind enough to take an aerial drone picture of us. Click here Costa Maya Mar Adentro Post Dive Video to see the video.

The next day in Roatan most of us took the ship’s dive excursion to Anthony’s Key Resort, a large and very professional dive operation. While the seas only had a two-foot chop, they were on top of 4 foot rollers, so the boat went north to get to some more protected waters. Once we got in the water we were amazed at the proliferation and abundance of healthy coral! Plenty of fish and turtles
complemented the reef as well. Getting back on the boat was a little exciting, but the divemasters were on the job helping us get back on. After a surface interval in a calm harbor, we did our second dive, which once again showed how healthy the reef was as evidenced by three separate stands of Elkhorn Coral! We finished the dive, returned to the dock and a bus came to take us back to the ship. One of the wonderful things about a dive cruise is when you return to the ship- and simply go to the pizza or burger place on the sun deck dressed as you are for a well-deserved lunch!
The next day the ship arrived in Cozumel where we chartered two boats with Scubalife Cozumel. Once again, we had great service from the staff and crew and headed out to do two drift dives. Fortunately, the current where we dove was not very strong but enough that we floated effortlessly passing by colorful corals. Visibility was excellent and our guides pointed out the abundant marine life along the way. Spotted Eagle Rays were migrating through the channel, and we managed to see a few of them.

Towards the end of the second dive, we saw what I think is the largest Barracuda I have ever seen! After two fabulous dives we returned to shore and found taxis to take us back to our floating hotel.

While diving was the highlight of the trip for many of us, we cannot overlook the onboard experience. After a day of diving, it’s really nice to come back to a first class entertainment, dining, and hotel experience. After a nice dinner and perhaps a show, there is a very nice and comfortable state room where you can get a good night’s sleep while they transport you to the next magical destination. There simply is no better way to get a sample of international diving than on a dive cruise.

See you on the next one!
