Return to Blackbeards!!

August 8-14, 2026

Only $1405 !!!!

It has been nearly five years since we did an early post-COVID trip on Blackbeard’s, and it is still a great SCUBA adventure. It is hard to describe how such a modest trip can be better than the most luxurious live aboard. Maybe it invokes the explorer in us that wants to bond with the ocean, sun, and wind. Whatever it is, the experience simply cannot be duplicated. I think I have been on this trip eight times and it never disappoints, from shark dives to endless fields of staghorn coral to high current drift dives, it’s everything you can imagine that’s possible on such a trip.

One thing is for sure, you will make friends that you will never forget. And you will see the incredible display of stars in the Bahamas, unfettered by the light pollution from the mainland. On our last trip (photos from the 2021 excursion) we had five hardy sailors that braved the onslaught of COVID testing protocols. We experienced a variety of weather conditions that you would think might cause us concern, but it simply magnified the depth of the experience. COVID restrictions prevented us from some land sojourns at the time, but we were able to go ashore on an uninhabited island for a short visit.

I always request bunks in the galley which is in the center of the ship, and they have the largest births.  All the births are air conditioned so you will sleep comfortably. To be clear, there are NO cabins, only births where you keep all your stuff. And all your stuff consists of bathing suits and T-Shirts because that is virtually all you need, with the possible exception of a light jacket and toiletries. There are two toilets on board and one shower (one toilet and the only shower are in the galley). You are allowed one fifteen second freshwater shower per day and unlimited Joy baths (Joy liquid detergent will get sudsy in saltwater) off the stern.

Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM until 6:00 AM when the cook starts breakfast. Those in the galley will hear the noise of cooking first but will also get fed first! And let’s face it, you will be up early for the first dive anyway. And speaking of dives, you will be able to do four dives during the day and a night dive most days, for up to 19 dives during the week. You may think the diving in the Bahamas is not that good, but trust me, Blackbeard’s knows where the good sites are, and they mostly go to the Exumas.

So, what does the Active Diver’s package include?
